Facility Director

POSITION SUMMARY: Ensures an attractive, safe and well-maintained facility by assessing, performing and directing building, grounds, and equipment maintenance projects. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises maintenance and custodial staff.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the association’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; developing, coaching, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


  • Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and one-three years related experience supervising in this field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of procedures, safety measures and commonly used concepts within one or more particular facilities field(s) is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and follow instruction. Basic computer skills (email and work tickets) are essential.
  • Possess basic mechanical aptitude and have experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, pumps, HVAC, lock repair, etc.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, and ability to work at a various locations during the course of a work day.
  • Must be flexible in work scheduling to fulfill a variety of work shifts including work days and shift schedules (morning, noon, night) on occasion.
  • YMCA Team Leader certification; if not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months
    • Team leader certification requires: Principles and Practices; Introduction to Volunteerism; Introduction to Leading Others; Introduction to Fiscal Management; Leadership competency assessment; Team Leader Certification Test.
  • Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
  • Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.

Sports Assistant:

Under the direction of the Sports Coordinator and consistent with the Mission of the Union County Family YMCA, the Sports Assistant will assist in the development and success of the Youth and Adult Sports programs.  This position is part time and interested individuals must be available evenings and weekends to attend practices and games.  Responsibilities include: Assisting the Sports Coordinator with phone calls about upcoming sports leagues, contacting parents and coaches about game or practice changes, sending e-mails, organizing team information, attending games and practices, data entry, and surveys. This individual will act, as a liaison between the program and the Sports Coordinator, is a role model; and is an effective communicator. Knowledge of multiple sports preferred but not required.  Looking for someone who is personable and highly organized but works well in a team environment and exemplify YMCA Core Values. 

Creekview Recess Staff
We are currently seeking individuals to help with Creekview Intermediate School Recess.  Duties include providing supervision to 5th – 6th graders during their recess and running and organizing activities with the kids.  This is a part time position with the hours of 10:40am – 12:50pm Monday – Friday.

Fitness Center Attendant
We are looking for qualified individuals to work in our Fitness Center.  This individual will ensure that members in the fitness center enjoy a clean, safe environment that is conducive to creating a positive experience toward goal attainment.  Must be 18 years of age or older and have basic knowledge of anatomy and exercise physiology.

Personal Trainer

We are currently seeking certified Personal Trainers who want to impact lives of others and help them achieve their fitness, health and wellness goals. Personal Trainers are responsible for developing personal workout programs for YMCA members and provide YMCA members with current and accurate information regarding health and fitness.  Must be able to work flexible hours and display outstanding customer service. Certified Personal Trainers are required to have current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications and a personal training certification through one of the national organizations.


We are currently accepting applications for a Full Time Custodian.  The right candidate will be responsible for cleaning duties including, but not limited to, sweeping, power washing, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, replacing necessary supplies, and general cleaning and sanitizing of the YMCA facility. This position will perform assigned cleaning and custodial tasks related to maintenance of buildings and grounds following established routines and instructions. Must be available afternoon/evening and weekend hours.  Prior experience is preferred but will train the right individual. If you have passion and custodial expertise the Y has a position for you.

Kidzone Staff

Responsible for the direct supervision and safety of the children in our Kidzone area.  Directly interact with children in a warm and positive manner, listening, and responding to their language/communication with respect and caring at all times.  Morning and evening shifts available.

Plain City Latchkey Staff (Off-Site)

Provide direct supervision to a group of children before and after school. Perform duties as it is related to the responsibility and safety of a child. Staff must be able to report to Plain City Elementary School.  Must be available Monday – Friday 6:30 – 8:45am and 3:15 –6:00pm. For the 2016-2017 school year.

YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguard
Responsible for the overall safety and well-being of those in the pool area. Looking for individuals for our opening lifeguard shift on Mondays – Fridays from 5:15am – 10:30am and individuals to cover the mid morning/early afternoon shift on Mondays – Fridays from 10:30am – 3:15pm.   Certification required.

Swim Instructors

Provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. Experience preferred.

Building Monitor

We are currently seeking responsible individuals to fill our Building Monitor position. Building Monitors provide supervision to the overall facility and assist with customer service, membership sales, security, childcare, and custodial. Responsibilities include: Providing a secure facility by enforcing the rules and polices of the YMCA, provide customers with information regarding the YMCA, provide tours to potential members, set up and/or tear down equipment, tables, and chairs, and help keep the facility clean.  Evening and weekend hours available.

Customer Service Desk:

Individuals will provide quality customer service to YMCA members and guests.  Duties include assisting members and non members with registrations, answering questions, and providing information.  Available shifts include evenings and weekends.

Bunsold Middle School B Team Basketball Coach:

The Y in collaboration with Bunsold Middle School is looking for individuals to fill the role of B Team Basketball Coach.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
Ability to teach and evaluate the skills of the sport.
Basketball experience and/or knowledge of basketball.
Ability to effectively supervise middle school athletes and work with them in a positive manner.
Ability to work cooperatively with adults.
Ability to meet the practice & contest time requirements specified by the Athletic Director or Principal.
