Our Gymnastics Program is based on the National YMCA Progressive Gymnastics Program and the USA Junior Olympic Gymnastics Program. Our program is designed for children to have fun while learning gymnastics skills and lifetime skills such as goal setting, safety, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Our instructors try to instill the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Our program is open to both boys and girls and is offered on a monthly basis based off of our session dates.
Meet Amber Calvert
Gymnastics Coordinator & Team Coach
Amber has lived in Marysville with her husband and three children for the past thirteen years. Amber has been active in gymnastics for over 35 years. When she was not competing, she was coaching. Her gymnastics experience as a child was intense, and Amber wanted to share the love for the sport without the level of intensity and demands of a private club.
Amber is proud that the program at the YMCA allows gymnasts to be successful in the sport without missing out on other activities such as choir, plays, Girl Scouts, volleyball, track, and others. Amber is a USAG Professional Member and USAG Safety Certified.
She has been working with the YMCA Gymnastics program for nearly ten years and has been coaching the Shining Stars Gymnastics team for the past eight seasons. In her spare time, Amber enjoys traveling, and sewing. She is excited to be a part of the YMCA.

Gymnastics Class Schedule NEW DAY AND TIMES ADDED FOR SEPTEMBER!!
- Baby Gymnastics
- This class is designed for parents and children. Participants will develop and improve coordination and large motor skills through basic gymnastics. This class will include forward and backward tolls, skipping, jumping, and low balance beam skills.
Age: 18 months - 3 years old Dates/ Times: Wednesdays - 10:15am-11am at the YMCA Price: YMCA Members $62.50 per mini session Non Members: $82.50 per mini session
- Squeaky Sneakers
- Children will learn basic gymnastics skills including forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, balance beam, bars and vault.
Age: 3 – 4 years old
Dates/ Times:Wednesdays: 9:15am-10am Wednesdays: 11:15am-12pm Fridays: 5:10pm - 5:55pm Fridays: 6:10pm – 6:55pm
Price: YMCA Members: $62.50 per mini session Non Members: $82.50 per mini session
- Progressive I, Progressive II & Progressive III

Progressive I This gymnastics class is for students to become familiar with beginning gymnastics skills on the floor, balance beam, bars, and vault. Age: 5 years old and up Dates & Times:
Fridays: 5pm – 5:55pm Fridays: 7pm - 7:55pm
Price: YMCA Members: $67.50 per mini session Non Members: $87.50 per mini session
Progressive II This gymnastics class is more advanced in developing USGF (United States Gymnastics Federation) Level 1-3 skills. Successful completion of Progressive I and teacher approval is required. Age: 5 years old and up Dates & Times: Fridays: 6pm - 6:55pm
Price: YMCA Members: $67.50 per mini session Non Members: $87.50 per mini session
Progressive III / Pre-Team This gymnastics class is most advanced in developing USGF level 1-3 skills. Successful completion of Progressive II and teacher approval.
Dates & Times: Fridays: 6:30pm - 8pm
Price: YMCA Members: $82.50 per mini session Non Members: $102.50 per mini session
- Boys Gymnastics

Boys Gymnastics Students will work on the beginning skills for boys gymnastics including: floor, rings, parallel bars, high bar, pommel horse, and vault. Age: 5 & Up – Students younger than 5 should sign up for Squeaky Sneakers. Dates/ Times: TBA Price: YMCA Members: $67.50/per mini session Non Members: $87.50/per mini session
- Advanced Tumbling
- Students will work on their tumbling skills including round-offs, back walkovers, back handsprings, front and back tucks, and pikes.
Age: 8 and up

YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are incorporated into daily programming.
Variety of age appropriate activities that promote opportunities for children to explore their environment safely and confidently.
Activities are led by assigned teachers, as well as, self directed by the child. Creativity is encouraged to help promote individual growth.
Group and individual play. Kid Connect has activities that promote decision making skills, teach responsible behavior, and develop the child’s self confidence.
