Youth Sports

The YMCA focuses on developing the whole child.  We work on the fundamentals of the sports and incorporate our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all of our programs.

Youth Lacrosse

Youth Lacrosse

NEW THIS YEAR!  Our community spoke, and we
listened! This new youth league will offer the
building blocks of lacrosse skills to both boys
and girls, ages 5-12!  With our award of a US
Lacrosse grant, we’re able to provide sticks,
goals, and balls to players.  Additional equipment
will need to be provided by each  player (see the 411 on Lacrosse link). This is a non-competitive league, focused on teaching first time, or just starting out players, the basics of lacrosse and teamplay.  We hope this new league will help young players build their skills to gain confidence if they pursue teams in their future.  Our lacrosse league is perfect for players who enjoy catch-and-release play, running, and outdoor sports! First 30 players and first 2 coaches registered receive complimentary membership to US Lacrosse!

What We’re About
Our partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers focuses on giving young players the confidence and positive FUN environment they crave to be successful in athletics.  We focus on teaching basketball skills, as well as the importance of teamwork and the YMCA core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility.  Players ages 5-12yrs are lead by volunteer coaches who meet them where they are, and build up each individual’s skill set.
Why Jr Cavs?
Too often, programs for kids are designed by adults exclusively.  So we asked America’s youth directly what makes a sports league great.  The Answer?  “Making friends, getting cool jerseys (SWAG!), and it has to be Fun!”
That’s the kind of environment the Jr Cavs leagues aim to provide.  With official reversible jerseys, free Cleveland Cavaliers tickets, organized age groups, and a focus on having fun!
For Current Players & Families
