Summer Day Camp Information


General Information
Registration begins February 10th and ends May 9th 
Camp Dates: June 2nd - August 15th 
Weekly: Monday - Friday from 8am-4pm 
Location: Union County Family YMCA - 1150 Charles Lane, Marysville, Ohio 43040

Cost/Registration
YMCA Members: $175/week
Non Members: $200/week
*A one time $30 registration fee and additional field trip fees are not included. 

Week 1 June 2-6 Field of Friends
Our First Week of Camp!
Get to know your fellow campers through team building activities, icebreakers brainteasers, riddles, mini-competitions, etc.

Week 2 June 9-13 Great Explorer
Become one with nature this week as we learn all about navigating the wilderness and identifying
everything that’s around us. From bugs to trees to natural formations learn about what makes being outside the best.

Week 3 June 16-20 Animal Adventures
Learn about all the animals in the wild! From all around the world we will explore the different
animals that live in the wild and the adventures they have. This week will have a Field trip to the Zoo.
Additional field trip fee will be applied later.

Week 4 June 23-27 Engineering Zone
Explore your architectural and engineering potential along with your creativity through a variety of
introductory STEAM based Challenges. We have the blueprint for summer camp success! You’ll enjoy activities
such as paper airplane construction, bridge building, structure design, LEGO building, and much more!

Week 5 June 30-July 3 Great YMCA Cooking
From the kitchen to the science lab, food can teach us so many things! Join us for a week of tasty and unique food challenges.

Week 6 July 7-11 Water, Water Everywhere
It’s time to get soaked! Splish and splash through an awesome, fun-filled week.
Summer is hot, but you’ll stay cool with activities like water sponge games, water relays, slip ‘n slides and more!

Week 7 July 14-18 Soccer Stars
The World’s most popular sport, Soccer! This week will entail drills, in-game scenarios and
scrimmages of all sizes designed to better your power, finesse and dribbling skills.

Week 8 July 21-25 Beach Blast
 Come out to the beach and learn how to create your own Lei, dance to song and have fun in the sand.

Week 9 July 28-August 1 Wellness Fun
 Get ready for back to school with Wellness week. Learn how to be healthy through, food and exercise,
with healthy habits. Take fitness classes and learn how to move to strengthen your body.

Week 10 August 4-8 We’ve got Spirit
Compete with all your fellow YMCA campers and show your camp pride! Campers will have teams and
create camp themed banners, songs, and cheer as they show off their spirit on spirit day!

Week 11 August 11-15 Y Olympics
YMCA Olympics! Team unity and participation is essential. Some events will involve skill and energy and
others will involve problem-solving. On Friday’s closing ceremony one country will take the gold!

Is my child the right age for Summer Day Camp?
Summer Day Camp is for children who have completed Kindergarten through those who are entering grade 6. 

How much time will my child spend outside?
Fun in the Sun! If the weather permits, day campers will be outside most of the day. 
Please apply sunscreen before your camper arrives. Also, ensure your child dresses appropriately 
for each day’s weather. Bring a rain jacket if it is rainy, a sweatshirt if it's chilly, etc.

What does a day look like at camp?

Daily activities vary from week to week depending on themes and program times. However, an example of a typical day will have the following structure:

Morning
8:00am-11:30am
  • Opening Circle (camp communication, group game/activity)
  • Small Group theme activities 

Lunch
11:30am-12:30pm

Afternoon
12:30pm-4:00 pm

  • Small Group enrichment activities. 2-4 stations including summer reading program, arts/dance, yoga, outdoor education
  • Closing Circle and reflections for the day
What should my child bring to camp?

Campers should wear old clothes with the camper’s full name clearly marked on every item brought to camp. Campers may bring a backpack with limited items, including:

  • Water bottle(s)
  • A packed lunch 
  • Sunscreen
  • Clothes necessary for that day’s predicted weather (rain, chilly, etc.)

What should my child NOT bring to camp?

Special or Expensive Personal Belongings

  • Campers are responsible for their own belongings, including backpacks, library books, clothing and other personal items. We discourage campers from bringing:
    • electronic devices and phones
    • special toys, game cards and books
    • money 
    • sports equipment (unless specified for camp)

If a camper brings these items, the YMCA staff may collect them and return them when parents or guardians pick up their child at the end of the day. The YMCA is not responsible for lost items.

Dangerous Items & Controlled Substances

  • Weapons: Children, staff, parents and visitors cannot carry weapons, including firearms, pocket knives, matches, lighters and firecrackers.
  • Controlled Substances: All properties where a YMCA operates or visits prohibit illegal drugs, controlled substances and alcohol.
  • Tobacco-Free YMCA Camp and Facilities: No tobacco products are permitted. Family cooperation is necessary to protect our “outdoor classroom” for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for keeping the YMCA Day Camp space and buildings tobacco-free.

Animals & Sugary Drinks

  • Pets: No animals are allowed at YMCA programs.
  • Pop: Please refrain from sending soda, sugary or carbonated drinks to camp.

When are my payments due?
Payments are due two weeks prior to the start of the camp week your child is attending. 

Is there financial assistance available for camp?
Yes. Scholarships or financial assistance are available. To request an application, contact Trevor at tsecord@unioncountyymca.org
Requests should be made by April 15. Funding may be limited, so we recommend applying early. 

Do you offer a multi-child discount?
Yes! We offer a 10% Sibling/Multi-Child discount.

Is there a minimum amount of weeks to register?
No. Families may register for as many or as few weeks as desired during the summer.

Summer Day Camp is for children 
who have completed Kindergarten through 
those who are entering 6th grade.
